Vaccination at Martigues hospital: calm, coolness and patience

We have learned to master the gestures that save, we will have to learn to avoid the gestures that are harmful. Among them, calling the switchboard of the Rayettes hospital and, even worse, going there in the hope of being vaccinated once there. We will explain everything to you

The information is known to all, the vaccine has arrived in Martigues, more precisely at the Rayettes hospital, and the campaign started this Tuesday morning, January 19, which generated in some, too many already, bad reflexes to both damaging and above all completely unnecessary.

The context :
1) The Rayettes hospital is not the vaccination center: it only vaccinates – only internally, therefore – only its own staff and the most vulnerable patients.
2) Where there is confusion in the minds of the population is that the Martigues hospital center only houses the vaccination center on its premises, the only official one (set up by the CPTS – Territorial professional health community – Pays de Martigues) and which therefore operates independently of the hospital.
3) The CPTS vaccination center has the obligation to vaccinate initially only priority people appearing on lists issued by government services: in any case the people to be vaccinated do not depend on the choice of those who vaccinate, therefore unnecessary harass them on the phone or on the spot. In addition, any false attempt about his age or his state of health is doomed to failure as we will explain to you.

Priority people:
– first and during this first week, it concerns nursing staff in a very broad sense, starting with all hospital staff regardless of the position held, liberal doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, pharmacists, stretcher bearers , paramedics, midwives, dentists, ophthalmologists, specialists, caregivers, etc … It is obviously not a question of favoritism or between oneself but of common sense: if these people were to be contaminated, it is is the entire chain of care in all areas of health that risks dysfunction and it is we, citizens, who will suffer directly in the event of illness.
For the territory covered by the Martigues vaccination center (i.e. the three towns of the Pays de Martigues with Port-de-Bouc and Saint-Miter-les-Remparts to which Châteauneuf must be added) this concerns approximately 600 people.
– from next week, it will be the turn of people aged 75 on compulsory presentation of the national identity card, without this official proof of age, no vaccine issued.
– Finally will follow in a third step the public says “at risk”, or all people suffering from a condition also listed by the government. This time, with the identity card, you must first and obligatorily visit your attending physician who will judge whether your state of health corresponds to the diseases targeted by the State services, if so, he will issue you a certificate which will allow you to access the vaccination center, without this sesame from the family doctor, again, no vaccination possible.

If you are over 75 and / or at risk, to make an appointment, only two means at your disposal :
– the platform Doctolib, even if it is already very congested because crumbling under the requests.
– a unique telephone number: 04 13 29 53 29 (and especially not the standard of the Rayettes hospital, intended only for the care of its patients and absolutely not concerned by this vaccination campaign).
This unique number was made available to health services by the city of Martigues.

The current capacity of the center is 300 vaccines per week, the center is equipped to follow this pace until at least the end of March. And the list of appointments granted is currently complete until at least mid-April. At this moment, these are the only certainties that caregivers are aware of, figures which are obviously liable to change over the days.

The reason for this very strict and unfortunately necessary managementis that the quantities of vaccines are far too insufficient today, but in any case, the responsibility for this lack can be attributed to the field caregivers, who, on the front line, do what they can with the means available to them. ‘we grant them.
So, there is no other solution than to be patient, as has been the case for 10 months and, if you respect the barrier gestures as you have done so far, you can calmly wait your turn.
Basically, it’s time to be a philosopher: on the contrary, let us be relieved not to appear on the list of priority people, this means above all that we are, if not in good health, at least not affected by an affection that makes it particularly vulnerable to the virus.
And finally, as many of us have had, time and again, the unpleasant feeling that we have been infantilized by the government, well we have the opportunity to prove that we are perfectly capable of behaving. as responsible adults.
And most importantly, let us give a more than deserved respite to our health forces which have been in continuous demand for nearly a year and which, in the opinion of Doctor Gérard Eddi, president of the CPTS of the Pays de Martigues, are exhausted and no longer very far from the point a break.

On video, interview with doctor Gérard Eddi, president of the CPTS of the Pays de Martigues which manages the vaccination center. It reviews in detail the vaccination policy implemented for the coming weeks for the Pays de Martigues / Châteauneuf area.
The testimony of doctor Denis Carpentier, liberal cardiologist who has just retired since December 2020 but who continues to provide vacations at the Rayettes hospital twice a week. The one who participated in the beginnings of the adventure of the hospital center in 1976 when he was only a young external student in 3rd year does not hide having been initially reluctant to be vaccinated, but the consultation of documents made available by the company Pfizer about his vaccine finally convinced him to take the plunge.
