Vacation Accidents: Slovak Woman Dies in Tragic Fall

BRATISLAVA – Summer is the time for vacations, which many Slovaks have chosen, or will still choose. Even during this period, which we look forward to all year, however, it is necessary to be careful. The Union insurance company reports on the second case with a tragic end, which was caused by a simple slip.

Slips or unfortunate falls that ended in death. Union poisťovňa also had to solve such cases with its clients whose vacations abroad cost their lives. In addition to fatal accidents, the insurance company already recorded a high number of accidents during June, while in some cases carelessness and unnecessary risk-taking played a role.

Be responsible on vacation

“We advise our clients to behave responsibly and carefully even on vacation. We provide vacationers with the best insurance coverage through travel insurance, but the most appropriate way to deal with accidents is to prevent accidents themselves. We record serious cases, some of which ended fatally.” Union spokeswoman Kristína Baluchová explains.

The Slovak woman died on the first day of her vacation

Currently, the insurance company is handling the transport of a client from abroad, where he has been monitored for several days in the intensive care unit after a head injury. He is not conscious and his injury was caused by a simple trip. A completely tragic end was the unfortunate fall of a Slovak woman from an unfortified wall while trying to take a photo, on the very first day of vacation. She suffered a serious spinal cord injury, to which, unfortunately, she finally succumbed. Last year, one client faced a wrist fracture and other serious consequences of falling from a 25-meter rock while on vacation in the USA, where she was hospitalized after being transported by helicopter. The cost of her treatment exceeded 30,000 euros.

“Of course, we understand that no one plans for an accident or accident. It is also understandable that we behave more relaxed during the holidays. However, we still recommend our clients not to forget about caution, so that they can enjoy the holiday and return from it in full health.” concludes Baluchová, saying that when choosing travel insurance, it is recommended to take into account what sports or other activities you will engage in during your stay.
