UWV receives 50,000 applications for salary costs scheme NOW

The benefits agency UWV has received 50,000 applications from companies in the past two days for a contribution to wage costs, the agency reports.

Companies that miss out on turnover due to the corona crisis can appeal to the temporary Emergency Measure Bridging for Job Retention (NOW). In this way, the Cabinet wants to prevent companies from firing employees immediately.

Employers with a loss of turnover of at least 20 percent can use the scheme, so that they can continue to pay wages. With a loss of 100 percent of turnover, companies can be reimbursed 90 percent of their wage costs.

Employers who have applied for and are eligible for an allowance can expect to receive money within two to four weeks. This is aimed at the salary date for April.
