Using falsified prescriptions, they stole 140,000 euros from health insurance

The correctional court of Grenoble (Isère) sentenced four people on Tuesday for acts of fraud, reports The Dauphine Libere. To varying degrees, the defendants participated in a scam against the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM). Between February and October 2020, they managed to steal 140,000 euros.

Prison closed for “the conductor”

For this crime, a man and his wife, a medical secretary, as well as the manager of a medical equipment company, used 74 falsified prescriptions. Thanks to these, the manager received reimbursements directly from the Health Insurance and the two men shared the money.

The husband was recognized as “the conductor” of this scam. He was sentenced to thirty months in prison, eighteen of which were suspended. His wife was sentenced to an eighteen-month suspended prison sentence, the manager of the company to a two-year suspended prison sentence. A childhood friend of the couple received a six-month suspended prison sentence for concealment of fraud. All will have to pay 115,000 euros to the CPAM.
