A dedicated online portal has tried to answer this question, namely “Autohero”, specialized in the sale and purchase of this type of vehicle. The closure of 2022 elhe beginning of 2023 is the right time to compile some statistics.
The trends and the motorists’ preferences are very clear and there are big surprises and curiosities. NoDespite the Aci data confirming a drop in used car sales (higher prices, fewer and fewer units available) the market is still alive and it is easy to identify the “queen” car, the favorite of Italians by reason of detachment.
In terms of engines electric and methane are at the bottom of the choices of used cars analyzed by AutoHero. And no, this is not a surprise…Diesel (44%) and petrol (41%) are still the most in demand, but beware of hybrids (7%) which is starting to gain a certain interest and positioning in relation to motorists in our country.
Statistics 2022, here’s which model is most in demand
There are three brands preferred by AutoHero users and from this sample of people derives the podium of most loved brands: it is about Fiat with 13% (the Italian spirit therefore remains in the lead, the cars chosen are double the brands that follow), in 2nd place on equal merit Ford e Wolkswagen with 7%, and in third place Renault with just under 7%.
And what about the models? Here is the surprising fact. Although the technology advances, the electric is increasingly sought after and the characteristics of the car become more and more modern, the most requested car (by far by the way) turns out to be the Fiat Panda. Therefore, tradition confirms its solid foundations, in this moment in spite of innovation. In 2022, according to very recent data, over 105 thousand were sold and to think that the second best-selling model was the Lancia Y with 40,000 units.
In 2nd place of the most chosen used cars, behind the Panda, for AutoHero there is the Fiat 500 and on the lowest step of the podium here is a French choice, the Renault Clio. The curiosities do not end here because the highly esteemed online portal has also managed to define the most requested colors in the context of second-hand sales: therefore motorists opt much more for the white (28%), gray (27%) and black (17%), while to find a more particular color like the rosso (6%) you have to go down to 6th place in this special classification.
