Russia plans to soon “annex” the two eastern regions of Ukraine affected by the Russian invasion. After failing to overthrow the government in Kyiv, Moscow will annex the DNR and LNR, the US ambassador to the OSCE told AFP.
“The latest intelligence shows that Russia will try to annex the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic to Russia,” said Michael Carpenter, the US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
“Reports say Russia plans to hold referendums in Donbass and the accession itself by mid-May,” Carpenter told reporters in Washington.
