(CercleFinance.com) – The PMI index of the American manufacturing sector – calculated by IHS Markit – fell from 60.5 in April to 62.1 in final data for the past month, the highest level since the start of the surveys in May 2007, and exceeding the flash estimate of 61.5.
This month-over-month increase reflects an acceleration in the expansion of the US manufacturing sector. As a reminder, it is the 50 bar which marks the limit between expansion and contraction of activity for this index.
‘The constraints on production capacities have further exacerbated, the logistical disruptions having led to an accumulation of pending work and one of the fastest increases in incoming prices since the start of the surveys,’ underlines IHS Markit.
