She meets with President Biden at the White House. Among other things, the dispute over the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea pipeline is likely to be at issue. Merkel is also said to receive an honorary doctorate from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, during her stay.
Federal Foreign Minister Maas is already in the USA. He meets UN Secretary-General Guterres in New York. Tomorrow Maas will attend a UN Security Council meeting on steps to stabilize Libya.
