US to Encourage Allies in Strengthening Containment of Russia in the Black Sea Region

The United States will continue to encourage allies to strengthen the containment of Russia in the Black Sea region, this is provided for by the US National Defense Strategy.

Direct speech: “We further encourage deeper engagement among Black Sea allies and partners to deter as well as defend against ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine and the wider Black Sea region.”

Details: U.S. engagement with allies includes increased information sharing for a shared assessment of the situation at sea and beyond, which is the basis of the U.S. National Defense Strategy, Carlin said.

She noted that the United States will continue to work with NATO partners on military modernization to counter the Russian military threat in the Black Sea region, in particular by strengthening positions and conducting exercises.
