The rapper Kanye West announced that he will present his candidacy for the US presidential election, after supporting the current president and candidate for re-election, Donald Trump. “We must now fulfill America’s promise by believing in God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am in the running for the presidency of the United States,” he tweeted to his account of 29.4 million followers, using the hashtag # 2020VISION.

It is not the first time that the 43-year-old African American rapper, according to Forbes the highest paid star in 2020, speculates on his entry into politics, although the latter seems to be his strongest announcement and arrives on the night of July 4th, the day after politically most important holiday in the United States. West cashed in on “full support” from the founder of tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk.

At the moment however West, husband of the rich and famous Kim Kardashian, and his staff, have not provided further details on the steps that will be taken to materialize a real candidacy. It is not even clear whether he has already submitted all the documentation. In recent years the rapper has been a firm defender of President Trump’s policies and figure.

The couple visited Trump in the White House two years ago to discuss prison reform.
