US Navy submarine collides with unknown object in the South China Sea

The nuclear power plant was not damaged. The incident took place in the South China Sea.

As noted by the TV channel, USS Connecticut did not collide with another submarine. The American submarine independently returns to the port.

“The submarine USS Connecticut (SSN 22) collided with the object during a dive on the afternoon of October 2 in international waters in the Indo-Pacific. The crew has no life-threatening injuries,” the statement said.

The submarine itself remains in a safe and stable condition.

“The nuclear power plant and compartments of USS Connecticut were not damaged, they remain fully functional. The degree of damage to other parts of the submarine is currently being assessed,” the press service said.

The US Navy is investigating the incident.
