US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan Visits Saudi Arabia to Discuss Yemen Conflict

The White House confirmed, Thursday, that the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, visited the Saudi city of Jeddah to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where they discussed ways to end the conflict in Yemen.

The White House said statement Sullivan met with the crown prince and a number of Saudi officials during the visit, which took place on Thursday, July 27, “to discuss bilateral and regional issues, including initiatives to push for a common vision for a more peaceful, secure, prosperous, and stable Middle East linked to the world.”

Mr. Sullivan also “reviewed the significant development building on the benefits of the truce in Yemen that has held over the past 16 months, and welcomed the continued efforts led by the United Nations to end the war.”

“The two parties agreed to maintain routine consultations and follow up on issues discussed during the day,” the statement added.

For its part, the Saudi Press Agency confirmed, “SPAAnd that “during the meeting, they reviewed the strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields, and developments in the regional and international situations of common interest were also reviewed.”

She stated that Sullivan’s reception was attended by “His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, and Her Royal Highness Princess Rima bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States.” The United States of America, His Excellency the Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, National Security Adviser, Dr. Musaed bin Muhammad Al-Aiban, His Excellency the Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, Professor Muhammad bin Abdulmalik Al Al-Sheikh, and His Excellency the Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Professor Yasser bin Othman Al-Rumayyan.
