US Fighter Jets Intercept 4 Russian Aircraft Near Alaska

Jakarta

Two F-16 fighter planes United States of America (US) intercepted four Russian aircraft near Alaska. This was revealed by the US-Canada North American Space Defense Command (NORAD).

The “routine” interceptions of Russian planes — which included Tu-95 bombers and Su-35 fighters — occurred Monday, NORAD said in a statement.

“The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace,” he said.

He added that the Russian activity was not seen as threatening. The intercept action was routinely carried out.

“It happens regularly and is not seen as a threat, nor is it seen as provocative activity,” he said.

US warplanes stationed in North America saw rare offensive action this month, shooting down a Chinese reconnaissance balloon and three unidentified objects.
