The actor and teacher Ricardo Coutoone of the outstanding acting figures of recent decades, He died this Saturday after a 45-year career on stage, television and Uruguayan cinema.
His death was reported by the Uruguayan Society of Actors: “His stage truth, his voice and presence, his personality and warmth, were a relevant contribution in the moments of resistance and struggle of our theater”they wrote on their social networks.
“Standing applause, dear colleague,” they added.
Couto, who began working on the theater scene in 1979premiered more than forty plays at Teatro Circular, Teatro el Galpón and at the Comedia Nacional, among which stands out The Blacksmith and Death directed by Jorge Curi.
In addition to integrating different theatrical casts, he was part of the films Burnt silver, Heart of Fire y Otario in the late 90s and early 2000s. In 2012 he starred in The guilt of the lambunder the direction of Gabriel Drak.
He also worked as a teacher and announcer, in addition to being a member of the jury of the Official Carnival Competition.
The news of the actor’s death saddened the Uruguayan art scene and both colleagues and institutions dedicated farewell messages to him on their social networks.
