Ursula’s voice actress from ‘The Little Mermaid’ passed away | Movie

Carroll was best known for her high-profile role as sea witch Ursula in “The Little Mermaid.” A role she also happily took on for, among other things, sequels, series and video games of the film. The ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ singer told ‘Makin’ Toons’ author Allan Neuwirth in 2003, “It was my lifelong ambition to record a Disney film.” The actress was also rewarded for this role, as in 1995 she won a Grammy in the category ‘Best Singing for Children’.

The actress’ career started in the military as a ‘civilian actress technician’. A job that can be described as writing, producing and directing productions with soldiers. In the following years, she mainly played characters for several television series, including the ‘Jimmy Durante Show’, ‘The Danny Thomas Show’, ‘Laverne & Shirley’ and ‘Ceasar’s Hour’. For the latter she won an Emmy Award. In the 1960s, the actress switched to voice acting on cartoons such as “Pound Puppies” and “Superman.”
