Urinary Tract Inflammation: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Options

Why does inflammation occur?

  • Frostbite;
  • Weakening of the immune system;
  • Too active sex life;
  • Use of antibiotics;
  • Menopause;
  • Problems in the urinary system (stones, prostate problems, etc.);
  • A complication of other conditions (diabetes, neurological disorders, sexually transmitted diseases, weakened immune system, etc.).

I need to go to the toilet again… Burning!

Urinary tract inflammation is indicated by the frequent need to visit the toilet. When urinating, we feel burning and pulling pain – especially at the end of urination. If you feel these symptoms, you should definitely go to a pharmacy or a family doctor to start treatment. If the infection is not treated and prevented in time, it can become a serious health problem. The pharmacist also warns that inflammation can spread to the kidneys. Another symptom is urinating in “small portions” and pain in the lower back.

If treatment is started on time and all the instructions of the doctor or pharmacist are followed, the urinary tract infection usually goes away quite quickly and without complications.

Drink a lot! One of the main rules is to drink a lot of liquid – up to 2.5 – 3 liters, preferably warm liquid. Herbal teas will be a great helper – yarrow leaves, lingonberry leaves, birch leaves and buds, Icelandic lichen and chamomile.

“Teas will be good for flushing the bladder and urinary tract. This way we will reduce inflammation-inducing bacteria,” explains pharmacist Laila Zālīte.

Plant extracts! You can certainly use plant extracts without drinking, which are available both in the form of capsules and tablets, as well as as a paste. They contain an even wider spectrum of medicinal plants: cornflower rhizomes, yellow goldenrod, scurvy roots, parsley roots, Greek trigonella seeds, Moorish sorrel and common sedum.
