Every year, one or the other football club from the Upper Palatinate comes up with something to make their fans smile on April 1st. Sometimes more, sometimes less creative. And some news, because it’s entirely feasible, might well pass as truth. We’ve rounded up a few of the not-so-first-meant social media posts.
District league leader SC Katzdorf reports a transfer hammer. Right-back Manuel Kraus will play alongside his role model Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia. “SC Katzdorf and Al-Nassr FC agreed on a change on April 1st, 2023. We don’t want to put any obstacles in Manu’s way, we all know how much he would like to be on the pitch with his big idol. After all, he’s been sleeping in Cristiano’s bedding for ages. A friendly match between the two clubs has been agreed as a transfer,” reports the SC.
The TV Riedenburg from the Altmühltal also has to accept a painful departure: “The ink is dry after intensive but very constructive negotiations! Our Martin Bader will switch to the professional field in summer. His manager and brother Johannes Bader was visibly pleased with the good outcome of the talks. TV Riedenburg is also pleased that Martin is being rewarded for his consistently good performance and has received the offer in the spring of his career. Martin will switch to an Austrian first division team and complete a degree in sports management at the same time. The board of directors of TV Riedenburg has decided to use the not inconsiderable transfer proceeds to plan the construction of a sports facility with a new sports hall, artificial turf pitch and grandstand for up to 5,000 spectators in the near future, which will be unparalleled in the region.”
1. FC Neunburg vorm Wald is planning a new sports center – in the industrial area. And outlines the business games in detail: “After years of marathon negotiations, the time has finally come, the football department of 1. FC Neunburg vorm Wald is leaving its club premises on Scherrstraße and will find its new home in the commercial and industrial area. The relief of the sports officer of the city of Neunburg vorm Wald, Thomas Albang, was noticeable when he was allowed to step into action at the joint site visit near a large consumer market and break the ground. Department head Thomas Habel welcomed the change of location, after all, the city officials no longer had to be bothered because of the defective floodlight system. ‘Several commercially available floodlights are absolutely sufficient for our needs.’ One of them was even provided free of charge by the football department’s conflict officer, Gerhard Habel. ‘I have a lot to make up for, after all I’ve permanently damaged the reputation of our department with my provocative posts on social networks,’ says Habel. For the two youth leaders Andreas Klier and Markus Paulus, the move is a lifelong dream come true. ‘We could never understand anyway why a club of our size has two football pitches at its disposal. For example, if we had nine youth teams and two men’s teams, we would need at least three pitches, but we’re well equipped with a small pitch,’ emphasize the two youth leaders. And the management is not afraid of the 100th anniversary, which the football department will celebrate in three years.”
In terms of infrastructure, the SpVgg Mitterdorf also has something to report. The Rodinger Club takes aim at professional football to a certain extent. “It’s here, the final plan for flood protection in Mitterdorf. It is gratifying that the two sports fields are now also protected and that a covered grandstand with a capacity of 500 spectators will be built in the course of the construction work. In addition, a local pizza service with its own stand next to the venue ensures culinary satisfaction. For die-hard fans, the ‘Feldbauer VIP Lounge’ for 30 people or the ‘Kraus Lounge’ for 25 people with upholstered seats are available for EUR 350 per season. Both are served alternately by Rodinger restaurateurs.”
