Upgraded Intel Core i3 Comet Lake-S Refresh processors already hit stores in Malaysia

Along with the new Rocket Lake-S processors, Intel is going to release updated versions of some of the 10th generation chips that will be part of the Comet Lake-S Refresh family. In particular, we are talking about the younger Core i3, which will retain the old architecture and, contrary to earlier rumors, will not belong to the 11th generation of Core chips, but will be released as part of the 10th generation of Core.

The main difference between the original and updated models of processors will be the increased maximum operating frequency of the latter. For the updated models, the company is going to use new packaging, a photo of which was shared today by online sources.

According to sources, the photo was taken in one of the Malaysian retail stores, which suggests that the updated Core i3, at least the Core i3-10105F model, has already begun to be shipped to points of sale. Recall that the F-series processors, the packaging of which is captured in the photo, has the integrated graphics core disabled, unlike the chips of other series.

According to the resource VideoCardz, the difference in frequency between the Core i3-10100F model already on the market and the updated Core i3-10105F may be 100 MHz in favor of the new chip. However, this information has not yet been confirmed. The updated Comet Lake-S Refresh will be available alongside Rocket Lake-S chips. The exact date is still unknown, but Intel has promised to release them during the first quarter of this year.
