Updated: Capcom is preparing a patch for Resident Evil Village

Updates:

The day after the release of the video from the Digital Foundry editorial office contacted Capcom developers said they were planning an update to fix the issues:

The team creates a patch that fixes performance issues on the PC. It should be available soon. We will provide more information soon.

Original article:

The eighth part of Resident Evil Village is doing great. He scores with fans and critics alike, and he already has just over 4.5 million copies sold. But not everything is so rosy.

While the console versions of this game are very well optimized, it is no longer so good on a PC. Even in strong formations, it happens to players that when an enemy is killed or just fired from a weapon, an unpleasant jam occurs. In one part, where a daughter and insects appear around her, FPS even fall. It’s not just a small drop, frames per second will easily reach a quarter value. In a video from Digital Foundry, we can see that about 120 FPS will quickly become only 30.

And why did Rich Leadbetter of Digital Foundry retest the game? The cracked version has appeared and, as it soon turned out, it runs better than the original with DRM protection. There are neither jams when firing nor FPS dips when encountering insects. This created a relatively strange situation where players who download the game have a better experience than those who have already bought it. Although it can’t be said in general either, because some animations are allegedly missing in the cracked version. Even so, it remains a mystery why Capcom still has not remedied these fundamental shortcomings.
