Update: protective masks instead of hypercars – Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus asks for the idea to be spread quickly

Jim Glickenhaus announced the development of a reusable protective mask. As a man of action, he already had a prototype sketch hours later. Article update at the end!

The idea is to connect a commercially available diving mask, which can be connected to the filter systems of the hospitals via an adapter manufactured by Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. The adapter is an injection molded part.

Jim Glickenhaus, along with his son Jesse, asks: “We’ll have a more refined scaled version soon. Then we will need your help to disseminate this idea so that once the prototype has worked it can be brought to the hospital. Hospitals use billions of masks. 4 million of these reusable / sterilizable masks could save many lives for doctors, nurses, paramedics and first aiders. “

Those interested can find out more on the SCG Facebook page or via the contact form on the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus website.

Update:

The sketch became a draft on the computer and the idea takes shape. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will, without exception, bear the development costs itself and will offer the adapters at cost price.

Glickenhaus: “Together we have to be careful about which masks we choose. Some masks self-ventilate on the floor, which may mean that a sick provider could contaminate a patient. This self-ventilation would have to be sealed. And some people have pointed out that increasing your height could be uncomfortable because you could hit the ceiling. It’s all true. It is also uncomfortable telling doctors to use bandanas instead of proper masks.
This global pandemic is devastating. And it’s also an opportunity to get together, support each other, and show the world how creative and helpful we can all be. We donate 100% of our time and efforts, and we will cover the cost of making a mold to make a universal adapter. If we ask for something, then only the cost of producing the parts and nothing else. How quickly can we get 4 million reusable masks from this country? I think we can do it in one piece if we all work together. ”

There is also the idea of installing a double filter to make breathing easier:

The SCG describes two stories as background of what prompted Jim and Jesse to implement this idea on their Facebook page.
