Upcoming OnePlus 10T will not get an alert slider – Tablets and phones – News

OnePlus has not built an alert slider with its upcoming 10T smartphone. The company motivates the choice by stating that the space is needed for a larger battery, faster charging and a better antenna. The Hasselblad brand on the camera will also be absent.

To keep the alert slider, OnePlus would have had to stack the motherboard, which would make the device thicker, thus explains OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu. The company didn’t want that. The slider takes up 30 square millimeters on the inside, which according to Liu is “relatively much”. It chose to remove it to “make sure the phone performs in the areas our users care about most.”

The alert slider allows users to set the phone to silent, vibrate and loud without leaving their pocket. OnePlus is the only Android smartphone with this feature. Apple’s iPhones have sliders like this too. The OnePlus smartphones have had the slider since the OnePlus 2 from 2015.

The motivation for omitting the Hasselblad branding on the back of the phone lies more in the cost. OnePlus ‘wanted an ultimate performance flagship smartphone bid on the selected price point’. It is not yet known what that price will be.

It is known in the camera field that the main camera is a 50-megapixel sensor, a Sony IMX766. It will capture 10-bit color and offer ‘enhanced HDR photography’. OnePlus’ implementation of night mode is also present again.

Furthermore, Liu tells The Verge that the display is 6.7 inches in diagonal, but the resolution and refresh rate are not yet known. The related 10R and 10 Pro both have 120Hz displays and resolutions of 1080p and 1440p respectively. Furthermore, already known that the phone will get a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. More information from OnePlus will follow in any case during the official release moment on August 3 at 4 pm Dutch time.

Also do there rumors circulating about the specs out of 10 Pro. A usually reliable Chinese leaker on Weibo talks about the possibility of charging at a maximum of 150W. The battery capacity is 4800mAh, this person claims, and the screen would have a 120Hz speed with 1080p resolution.
