Upcoming Nvidia Graphics Cards: RTX 50 Delayed Until 2025

Nvidia already has almost the entire lineup of the current series of RTX 40 graphics cards out, the latest addition in the form of the RTX 4060 will hit the market already on Thursday, and so there is more and more talk about the next generation, i.e. the RTX 50. According to some leaks, it should be called Blackwell, but it’s not certain yet, maybe it’s just a GPU codename for workstations. In any case, this is not so important, it is more interesting that through the website Hardwareluxx has discovered a new roadmap on the Internet, which lists upcoming Nvidia products across segments. And according to her, the next generation of game graphics is not planned until 2025.

Although it is not the first time that a later release is being talked about, it has already been mentioned in general terms before 3nm GPU lag, however this is the first official confirmation that the delay will affect the game’s graphics cards. And why is this such big news? Nvidia has maintained a roughly two-year release cycle for new architectures for more than a decade:

Fermi (GeForce 400 a 500) – 2010
Kepler (GeForce 600 a 700) – 2012
Maxwell (GeForce 900) – 2014
Pascal (GeForce 10) – 2016
Turing (GeForce RTX 20) – 2018
Ampere (GeForce RTX 30) – 2020
Lovelace (GeForce RTX 40) – 2022

So this will be the first exception in a very long time. It is not yet certain when exactly in 2025 the cards will arrive, it is quite possible that sometime in the beginning. Even so, it means some delay compared to normal plans. AMD can potentially upload it, as the next generation in the form of RDNA 4 should still be aiming for release next year. Likewise, Battlemage graphics cards, i.e. the second generation of Intel’s Arc GPUs, should be released in 2024.
