Activision plans to unveil Call of Duty: Warzone 2, the free-to-play successor to the battle royale shooter, later this year.

The next Call of Duty will be released at the end of the year and will be a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the soft reboot from 2019. Developer Infinite Ward is again responsible for the implementation.
In the company’s most recent financial report, Activision also confirmed work on the successor to the free-to-play game Call of Duty: Warzone.
The stand-alone Battle Royale shooter will get a successor developed from scratch, it is said. According to their own statements, this should deliver groundbreaking innovations and is being developed in parallel with the premium game.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is set to be revealed later this year. The game, like all other games in the future, will be developed with the same engine.
It remains to be seen whether Warzone 2 will be released this year or whether the Modern Warfare successor will initially be given the limelight.
