Wiesbaden. In many clubs, the preparation for the second half of the season has already begun – in the hope of being able to see it through to the end this time as well. Training and test matches are currently taking place under the strictest conditions since amateur football was allowed again during the pandemic.

Because of the increasing incidence figures, every city or district in Hesse is now classified as a “hotspot”. When entering the sports field, the 2G rule applies to adults. If you also want to visit the interior such as the clubhouse, cabin or shower, you must also be able to show a negative corona test or a booster vaccination.
In concrete terms, this means that only people who have been vaccinated or have recovered can take part in training and games. However, a special case applies to coaches, supervisors or referees. As employees, they are subject to the federal occupational safety regulations – even if they work on a voluntary basis. 3G applies to them on sports fields, which means they can also enter the sports field with a negative corona test.
It is doubtful that these rules for amateur sport will change after the upcoming consultations between the federal and state governments.
Regulations unclear in some details
First of all, it was not clear from the regulations whether player coaches, i.e. coaches who are also on the field as players of their team, can also play without vaccination. It doesn’t work that way: what the state sports federation had already told us is now also confirmed by the Hessian Ministry of Sports when asked by FuPa. Unvaccinated coaches are only allowed to instruct their team on the sidelines, but not actively play on the field. This may prevent the strategy of clubs to declare their unvaccinated players as “coaches” so that they can still play, at least with a negative test. On the other hand, unvaccinated referees are allowed to be on the field and officiate the game.
Use of the interior possible

Another ambiguity concerned the use of the interior: are unvaccinated coaches allowed to go into the dressing room, for example to address the team? Unvaccinated caregivers going indoors to get equipment? And unvaccinated referees in the locker room to change and shower?
Yes they may, FuPa confirms a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior when asked. If they follow social distancing rules and wear a mask. So that means: Unvaccinated (player) trainers are not allowed on the field during the game, but in the dressing room they are.
