“People get used to it and buy it. I think there is quite a lot of interest in it,” said a worker at the nearby information desk of the shopping center.

“I have shopped here several times. Mainly sausages and steaks. The meat is more expensive, but I like it very much. In addition, I read that it is healthier than other meats. It has little fat and cholesterol, so I’m actually doing something for my health,” said Mr. Zdeněk as he walked past the machine. “But I won’t buy anything today, I have a meat-free week now,” he added with a smile.

The meat comes from an ostrich farm in Opava, specifically from the village of Služovice. “We have two machines. One in Ostrava and one here in Služovice. It is available twenty-four hours a day,” farm owner Pavel Wieder told Deník.

The Ostrava machine is available according to Globus’ operating hours. Meat and products are replenished here once a week, on Wednesdays. But if necessary, it can be more often. The owner is not yet thinking about expanding the network of ostrich machines.

There are more unusual vending machines in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Deník recently reported on a facility in Nošovice that sells sauerkraut in different packages.

In our region, we can also meet milk machines, although they have decreased significantly in recent years. One of them is in Hlučín, for example.
