Dieter “Didi” Hallervorden already revealed in his autobiography that he was addicted to pills for about 20 years. He now reveals how he got into addiction and what helped him finally get out of it.

Dieter Hallervorden is very busy, whether as an actor, theater director or sometimes as a singer. Above all, many people think it is the comedian Diddy. But even in the life of Dieter Hallervorden it is not all continuous nonsense.

The 88-year-old revealed in his autobiography published a year ago that he had been addicted to pills for almost 20 years. Therefore, regular medication should help you sleep.

As part of the “Movie Meets Media” event in Hamburg, Hallervorden spoke to RTL about the reasons for his previous addiction. “The job can be stressful because you’re always under pressure to succeed and you don’t want to let the audience down,” the comedian said. Hallervorden explained that this tension followed him into the night because “the carousel of memory could no longer be stopped.”

To control his sleep problems, he eventually turned to medication. “I take a medication that you should only take for up to six weeks, and I’ve been on it for over 20 years. Obviously, at some point the body says: ‘Enough!’” Hallervorden revealed in an interview with RTL.

In the summer of 2021 he finally decided to retire. His therapist helped him out of his misery at the clinic. He is happy for that day. “Now I feel very comfortable because I have stopped taking sleeping pills completely and I can enjoy my days and nights better,” explained Hallervorden. It is possible that his wife Christiane, some 30 years his junior, has some involvement in this matter. Hallervorden entered into his third marriage with the attractive woman in 2022.
