Unreal Editor for Fortnite to be Released by Epic in the Coming Week

Epic Games is set to release its Unreal Editor for Fortnite on March 22. This allows players to make far-reaching changes to the game and publish them as mods. This is in addition to the existing, but relatively limited Creative Mode.

According to the product page for the tools, they allow tinkering with models, materials, meshes, textures, animations, audio, effects, and more. If desired, the code of the game, written in Verse, can also be modified. The page also mentions that this is still a beta, but it is not clear whether Epic is referring to a pre-release version of the editor, or also to the editor as it appears on the page. the announced release date of March 22 should look like. The existing Creative Mode is relatively limited by comparison and therefore more aimed at less technical, perhaps younger players.

So far, Epic Games has only shared two screenshots of the editor.

The tool is only available for PCs. Epic intends to during a presentation to reveal more about the editor at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
