Unknown beats sheep with knife in Exloo

In Exloo in Drenthe, an unknown person assaulted a sheep with a knife. The animal died in the meadow and was found there by volunteers from the Stichting Schaapskudde Exloo.

According to the foundation, the perpetrator gouged out the sheep’s eyes. It has also been stabbed in the ewe’s vulva. “Both the herders and the board are deeply shocked by what happened and cannot believe that anyone would do such a thing,” the foundation writes on Facebook.

The sheep belonged to a herd that grazed on the south side of the Drenthe village. The other animals have not been attacked. However, fences around hay bales have been removed; according to the foundation with the intention that the sheep would eat through the plastic to get to the hay.
