Universal Robots Hosts Catskills Championship Industrial Robotics Final

Madrid

Next Monday, June 21 at 10 a.m., the collaborative robotics HUB of Universal Robots, a world leader in the manufacture of collaborative robots, will host the industrial robotics final of the Catskills championship, a Professional Training competition where professional education students from all over Catalonia they compete in 38 trades related to their studies. The event can also be followed by streaming through this link.

Organized by the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, this year Catskills presents as its main novelty the incorporation of industrial robotics as a new competition trade. The Universal Robots facilities in Barcelona will host the final of the collaborative robotics competition, where students from the four finalist educational centers will participate: The Barcelona School of Work Institute, IES Jaume Huguet, IES Palau Ausit and FP Llefià.

4 Vocational Training centers and a single winner

The Catskills industrial robotics final will feature three exercises coordinated by Carlos Pérez, Head of Education at Universal Robots in Spain. The first test will be destined to start in robotics, where the characteristics of collaborative robots (cobots) will be presented. The second exercise will focus on the ability to program a robot, where participating students must program a cobot pick and place operation. Finally, a third trajectory test will be carried out with the robots. In this sense, the particularities of the cobots (collaborative robots) of Universal Robots make it possible for the students themselves to be in charge of manipulating the robots, due to the greater safety, ease of use and flexibility of this type of automaton.

The Catskills day will end at 3:20 pm with a round table under the title “FP, let’s act now for tomorrow”, where the future of education will be discussed. This round table will feature the participation of Antoni Paz, President of the 22 @ Network BCN innovation commission and General Director of the KIM Barcelona Foundation; José A. Andrés Villena, Deputy Director General of Programs and Projects; Míriam Milan, Head of the Programs and Projects Service of Foment dels Ensenyaments Professionals; Vicenç Guerrero, Head of the VET teacher training unit of the General Directorate of Vocational Training; Jose Luis Duran, Director of the Escola del Treball de Barcelona and vice president of the FPempresa Association; and Álex Salvador, manager of the Spanish Robotics Association (AER).

Catskills winners, who will receive their award at the end of the panel discussion, will qualify for the final Spainskills trials. Spainskills will host the winners in each category of the tests carried out by all the autonomous communities of the State. The championship is funded by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, co-financed by the European Social Fund.
