Universal Control is one of the biggest novelties in macOS 12 Monterrey. Its name already gives a clue of what it allows: universally control multiple Apple devices … with a single mouse and keyboard. You could say that it is a kind of successor to Continuity This makes it easy to interact between computers, whether it’s an iMac with macOS or an iPad with iPadOS.
A simple example: a user is working on his iMac, MacBook or Mac mini and has an iPad or another Mac computer next to him. If the user moves the mouse to the sides, the device detects that they want to change the screen. It’s a feature that makes it easy to use a tablet or other Cupertino equipment as a “secondary display.” Universal Control you are not limited to a single additional device, but can be used with up to three devices.
But Universal Control goes a step further and is not only limited to being able to control several Macs and iPads with a single keyboard and mouse (which avoids having several on the table), but also allows drag files between devices.
