United States Military Finds SpFN Vaccine Capable of Fighting All Variants of Covid-19

WASHINGTON, iNews.id United States military through the Army succeeded in finding the Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle (SpFN) vaccine which is believed to be able to fight all variants of Corona (Covid-19).

Vaccine trial results in humans are expected to be known by the end of the month. Phase I trials in humans began in April 2021 on 72 people to determine the effectiveness of the SpFN Vaccine.

Previous laboratory studies have shown that this new vaccine is able to protect monkeys from exposure to the Covid-19 virus and induce a very strong antibody response against various major variants that emerged during the pandemic.

“Our strategy is to develop ‘pan-coronavirus’ vaccine technology to provide safe, effective, and long-lasting protection against a wide variety of coronavirus strains and species,” says Kayvon Modjarrad, MD, co-inventor of the SpFN vaccine and director of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch at Walter Reed Army Research Institute, quoted from the consumer.healthday page, Thursday (12/23/2021).

Modjarrad explained, the regular repetition and spike of proteins in the Corona virus in multifaceted nanoparticles can stimulate immunity. This vaccine translates into significantly wider protection.

The SpFN vaccine, according to an article on the national security news site Defense One, uses a protein shaped like a soccer ball. Each of the 24 different molecular faces can carry a different protein derived from the unique variant of Covid-19.

“This creates a broad immune response to the coronavirus,” Defense One wrote.
