An American man was arrested for gunshot wounding of an employee of a fast food chain who would not serve him because he refused to wear a mask, police said on Wednesday.
Kelvin W., 27, was arrested on Monday by police in Aurora, Colorado (western United States), where he had caused the incident a few days earlier at a Waffle House restaurant, open only for takeout due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the arrest report consulted by the AFP, the restaurant workers had twice refused to serve the suspect, who persisted in not covering his face.
According to witnesses, the young man put a handgun on the counter and launched to a cook: “I can blow your brains out right away.”
The following night, Kelvin Watson returned to the restaurant, where he was again asked to mask his face or leave the premises. He then allegedly hit the cook, chasing him outside the building before shooting him.
The victim, injured in the chest, was hospitalized and recovering from his injuries, local police told AFP on Wednesday.
“The motives for the shooting are still under investigation,” said the police.
