| United Arab Emirates Mangalam fought and fell

Geelong (Melbourne): The Netherlands started with a victory in the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup. They beat the UAE by three wickets in their first Group A match.

Beating first, United Arab Emirates Scored 111 points for the loss of eight wickets. Counterattacking, Holland scored the winning point with an extra ball. Junaid Siddique’s brilliant bowling brought the Dutch to the brink of defeat. Junaid took three wickets and suffered 24 runs. Basil Hamid, Ayan Afzal Khan, Karthik Meiyappan and Zahoor Khan each took one wicket.

The opening Max O’Dowd (23 out of 18 balls including one six and three four), skipper Scott Edwards (16 out of 19 balls) and Tim Pringle (15 out of 16 balls) led the team to victory. At one point the UAE made it look like he was going to win.

Tim Pringle’s catch was decisive in the match. Pringle should have been eliminated with the first ball he faced when Pringle captured the UAE. The hero and Malayali CP Rizwan left. Pringle was animated and scored 15 points in the last few overs that changed the course of the game. When he came out in the 19th over, the player had brought the team closer to victory.

Opening Mohammad Wasim (41 out of 47 balls including two sixes and one four) is the UAE’s top scorer. Best scorer. Vrithya Aravind (18) and Kasif Daud (15) also beat well. The middle order was a setback for them. Skipper Rizwan (one), Zawar Farid (two), Basil Hameed (four) and Ayan (five) disappointed. For the Dutch, Bas de Leed conceded 19 points and took three wickets. Fred Klaasen took two wickets and Tim Pringle and Reelof van der Merwe took one wicket each. Bas d’Leed is the protagonist of the match.
