Aircraft problems cause extreme delay
The flight was supposed to take off from New York on June 29, 2023 at 7 p.m. – actually. During the first attempt – a total of four – a technical defect prevented the machine from flying. All passengers then had to exit the aircraft.
A few hours later, everyone was on a United Airlines replacement plane. But even this could not start because the engines suddenly caused problems. The consequence for all passengers: get off again and wait.

Initially, the airline did not provide any information about when the flight would be rescheduled. The whereabouts of the luggage also remained unclear. And although it was the middle of the night when the second attempt at takeoff failed, the airline didn’t skip hotel stays as appeasement. This was reported by Markus Liebscher, a passenger who Mallorca Zeitung.
At some point it got through that the flight from New York to Mallorca would take off the following day (June 30) at 7 p.m. But this third attempt also failed because of problems with the cargo hold. Five hours of waiting later, a plane finally took off. However, Liebscher is still waiting for the compensation he is demanding for his hotel bill: “Any attempt to claim expenses or compensation from the airline has been in vain.”
