Bola.net – An interesting thing happened during the press conference before the match between the Indonesian national team and the Argentina national team, Sunday (18/6/2023) evening WIB. Lionel Scaloni suddenly asked to change translators in the middle of the session.
The Argentina national team coach initially arrived on time as scheduled, namely at 17.30 WIB. He was alone, not accompanied by other Argentine players.
So there was only Scaloni, the organizers, and a female translator. Nindi, the name of this translator, bridges the language barrier between the local media, media from Argentina, and Scaloni.
At first it went well. Nindi did his job well, so that journalists in the media room understood what Scaloni was saying. Until then, the coach asked for a change of translator.

The 45-year-old coach suddenly pointed at one person when Nindi was trying to translate questions from journalists.
A Liaison Officer (LO) from PSSI was asked by Scaloni to translate instead. Abel, called a male translator, who was asked for help by Scaloni.
The change of translator was finally done. Nindi came down, then Abel went up to the press conference.

Bola.net tried to approach Abel after the press conference. However, his figure was not interviewed. The obligation to always be close to the Argentina national team made it impossible to be found right away.
Only Nindi was finally able to be found to explain the change. According to him, the change was due to differences in the language used.
“I used European Latin earlier. With Latin America, it’s a bit different, but understandable. The problem is comfortable listening anywhere, actually,” he said.
“If he [Abel] I do use Latin America. And because he has been attached to Argentina since landing, maybe the coach is more comfortable with him,” he continued.

Nindi explained that he had been able to speak European Spanish or Latin for a long time. He even opened special Spanish lessons.
However, this is the first time Nindi admits that he has to become a translator in the field of football. “If you become a translator in football, I think this is your first time,” he said.
