“Understanding Phone Calls from Military Registration and Enlistment Office in Ukraine”

Phone calls from the military registration and enlistment office, in fact, are only advisory, but it all depends on the status of the person liable for military service.

If the telephone number of a person liable for military service is freely available, then representatives of the Territorial Recruitment Center can use this method of communication. In particular, such a situation may arise if a person is an individual entrepreneur and information about his means of communication is entered in the unified state register (EDRPOU) of the Ministry of Justice.

About it told Leading Legal Counsel of Nota Group Anton Marinich.

According to him, since January 2023, clients began to receive requests from military registration and enlistment offices with a request to provide information about male employees aged 18-60 years, and in one of the paragraphs there was a request to provide a phone number.

“Such calls are essentially advisory only. It is important here what military status the person who is being called has because, in addition to those liable for military service, there are also reservists, ”the lawyer emphasized.

Anton Marinich recalled that reservists, that is, those who already have combat experience and are registered separately, serve in the military reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They already have a mobilization order, and from the moment martial law is declared or in other specific cases, they must immediately appear at the TCC without serving a summons.

“In such cases, military duty must be fulfilled one way or another,” the lawyer emphasized.

Recall that in Ukraine, the delivery of subpoenas often becomes a reason for violating the law. Therefore, lawyers emphasize that it is necessary to closely monitor the procedure itself.
