Anal apex genital warts, commonly known as cauliflower, are characterized by the formation of small granular lumps near the anus. These lumps may exist singly or in clusters. Shape-wise, they may resemble a cockscomb or a cauliflower, and if you look closely you may notice they have pedicle-like protrusions.

These lesions may appear flesh-colored or reddish. The initial stage usually does not cause pain, but as the disease progresses, itching, burning, local bleeding, and even local skin erosion may occur.

This disease is mainly caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. This virus is spread through sexual contact. Poor hygiene habits and weakened immunity may also increase the risk of infection. It most commonly affects the external genitalia and around the anus. infection. Treatment methods include topical ointment application, cryotherapy and surgical excision. The selection depends on the situation of different patients (as shown in the table). The need for further testing for other sexually transmitted diseases will also be considered.

The virus may still be present in the body after treatment

It is important to note that even after treatment and the lesions have disappeared, the virus may still remain in the body, leading to recurrence in the future.

The most important way to prevent infection is to have safe sex, avoid sharing personal hygiene items such as bath towels, and get the HPV vaccine. Even people who have been infected can still be vaccinated to prevent reinfection with other subtypes of the virus.
