Unboosted despite vaccination? Apps go crazy at “Johnson & Johnson”.

Dresden – The coming rule tightening in Saxony Gastronomy causes uncertainty among vaccinated people who, as basic immunization, Johnson & Johnson vaccine “Janssen” got. Despite the “boost” they are not considered “2G Plus” capable in the relevant Corona apps. This can also become a problem when traveling abroad. But there is a simple solution.

Grit Lehmann (49) from Dresden was irritated when she loaded the digital certificate into her CovPass app and the warning app after her booster with “Spikevax” from Moderna in mid-December.

“Both only showed the symbols for the basic immunization, but not for the booster,” reports the publisher’s employee, who had missed “Janssen” as the basic immunization in May.

A phone call to the family doctor’s practice made the uncertainty complete: “They told me that with Johnson & Johnson initial vaccinations, the mRNA vaccination is not considered a booster, a further vaccination is required.”

Means: In gastronomy, “Janssen” vaccinated people would still need a daily test from Friday, despite the “booster”. And the Dresden woman’s planned trip to Italy would not be possible without a PCR test.

Can that really be true? No.

Breathe a sigh of relief: People are still considered boosted!

The problem is known in Saxony’s Ministry of Social Affairs. And a spokeswoman gave the all-clear when asked by TAG24: “This is a special technical problem with the presentation of the vaccination in the vaccination card/digital certificate, which only occurs with people who have received a first vaccination with Johnson & Johnson.”

In Saxony, too, these people would be considered boosted. “The technical problem mentioned must be solved by the federal government,” says the ministry’s statement.

But there is an uncomplicated solution: If you have been vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson and then boosted, simply show your yellow vaccination card with the corresponding entries – and the way is free.
