UN Security Council Holds Meeting on Gaza Strip and Israel War, No General Decision Reached

The UN Security Council held a meeting on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the war in Israel. No general decision was made. This was reported on October 9 TASS with reference to the words of the meeting participants.

“We did not discuss a general statement, but no one proposed any text,” Vanessa Frazier, Malta’s representative to the UN, told reporters. According to her, the discussion revolved around the current situation and what can be done to protect civilians and stop the violence.

According to US Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative to the UN Robert Wood, Security Council members agreed that “the attacks should not have happened.” He noted that it is important to prevent the situation from worsening.

“My message was a call for an immediate cessation of fighting and a transition to substantive negotiations, which has been discussed for decades,” said Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya (quoted by RIA Novosti).
