South Korea partially abrogates a military agreement
An agreement on military detente with North Korea has been partially canceled by South Korea. The agreement was introduced in 2018.

Not the first attempt
The launch on Tuesday was the third attempt to launch the satellite.
When it became known that the satellite had been launched, an evacuation warning was issued in the Okinawa region, but it was withdrawn later when the missile passed over the Pacific Ocean instead.
If North Korea has managed to place the satellite in orbit, it is not the first time the country has managed to do something like this. North Korea has twice successfully launched satellites.
