UN Expert Calls Israeli Settlements a War Crime, Zionists Are Outraged

GENEVA – A UN human rights expert says settlements Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories are classified as war crimes. The conclusion sparked the anger of the Zionist Israel.

Michael Lynk, UN special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, presented his latest report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, on Friday. He urged the international community to hold accountable Israeli practices long considered illegal.

“In my report, I conclude that Israeli settlements constitute a war crime,” the UN expert said Reuters, Saturday (10/7/2021).

He said the settlements were an absolute violation by the Israeli occupation forces which transferred part of its civilian population to the occupied territories, thus meeting the definition of war crimes under the Rome Statute which established the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“I convey to you that these findings compel the international community to explain to Israel that its illegal occupation, and its violations of international law and international opinion, can and will no longer be free of charge,” Lynk told the forum in Geneva.
