‘Problems that Covid-19 poses in the binomial transparency and data protection. Contribution of practical solutions from Legal Science’ and ‘Social responsibility and transparency. A reading from private international law’ are the titles of the books directed and coordinated by professors from the Private International Law Area of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, Alfonso Ortega Giménez and Lerdys Heredia Sánchez, respectively. Both books, published by the Aranzadi publishing house, are available to the university community.

The first of them is part of the dissemination, research and training project on transparency, access to public information, open data, good governance and institutional integrity, within the line of work: ‘Transparency and protection of personal data ‘. Within this line, Professor Ortega Giménez appears as the main researcher and continues the actions initiated in 2020, with the subsidy of the Ministry of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Democratic Quality.

On this occasion, the UMH professors have focused on analyzing the adequacy of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Spanish internal regulations to the treatments that incorporate Artificial Intelligence components. Specifically, as a part of digital ethics as one of the aspects that arouses the most concern in the different areas that affect the collection and processing of personal data. This book collects research topics and authors, Spanish and foreign, from different legal disciplines, who reflect on social responsibility and transparency. This reflection aims to analyze in a transversal way the legal aspects that involve social responsibility and self-government from the multidisciplinary perspective offered by private International Law, both at a European level and at a Spanish level, especially in the field of the Valencian Community; disseminate academic and practical studies aimed at promoting, coordinating and developing Spanish and regional regulations within the field of social responsibility and the promotion of self-government and transparency, in line with the policies set by the European Union. Likewise, it seeks to promote a space for professional exchange between academia and practice, on social responsibility and transparency in an internationalized context such as that of the Valencian Community, with a great international vocation both ad extra and ad intra; and share different experiences on the binomial social responsibility and transparency, from the local, regional, state and international perspective.
