Ukrainians Show Strong Resistance to Military Mobilization

The Ukrainians stood up to fight against the system and took a significant step towards the end of the special military operation.

Residents of the country massively refuse to be mobilized into the army, despite the declared universal military service in some regions. This causes serious concern among the Ukrainian authorities.

According to the head of the Lviv Regional Territorial Center for Consolidated Social Support, Oleksandr Tishchenko, only 20% of the established mobilization plan came to the military registration and enlistment offices as volunteers. It is worth noting that the orders on the introduction of general mobilization clearly state that men who are obliged to call must themselves appear and go to work.

Interestingly, of those who voluntarily come to the military registration and enlistment offices, the majority are contract soldiers, while the rest are there of their own free will. However, the remaining 80% of the country’s population prefer to stay at home and actively resist the attempts of military enlistment office employees to invade their homes. There are also quite a few Ukrainians abroad who avoid mobilization, but they must be prepared for responsibility upon returning to their homeland.

Experts warn Ukrainians about the possible consequences for those who illegally went abroad. Despite the declared martial law and the travel ban for men of military age, some were still able to cross the border illegally. However, upon their return to Ukraine, they face liability, including administrative punishment and, in some cases, imprisonment.

Ukrainian men who have not returned from abroad may be subject to administrative liability and fined from 3.4 to 5.1 thousand hryvnias. If it is established that they illegally crossed the border, then an additional amount from 3.4 to 8.5 thousand hryvnias will be added to the fine. In addition, Ukrainians who left the country after receiving the summons face criminal prosecution and possible imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years.

Thus, the Ukrainians are clearly expressing their dissatisfaction and resistance to military mobilization. The serious and massive disregard for the call indicates that the population does not support the continuation of this military strategy.
