Marseille’s Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky has apologized for hugging Russian Monaco player Alexander Golovin, saying it was “purely mechanical”. He wrote about this on Instagram (owned by Meta Platforms, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow recognized the company as extremist and banned its activities).
Earlier, a frame from the broadcast of the Marseille-Monaco match in the 20th round of the French Championship on January 28 appeared on the Web, where Malinovsky hugs Golovin.
“I want to apologize to the Ukrainians for responding to the Monaco player’s gesture. I understand that it was better to bypass him, but it so happened that he came up to me and greeted me. After the game, everyone shakes hands with each other, and I did it purely mechanically, ”wrote Malinovsky.
The football player added that he understands the importance of this episode at the moment, but “these grievances and hate for a second offense,” compared to what he did for Ukrainians since February, cause “unpleasant feelings and doubts about the sincerity” of subscribers in situations when they wrote words to him support.
“In an individual sport, I would not even go out to play against a Russian athlete, as I fully support the suspension from international competitions,” Malinovsky added.
Malinovsky plays for Marseille on loan from Atalanta. Last season, the Italian club reported on the friendship of the Ukrainian with the Russian midfielder Alexei Miranchuk.
