Ukrainian Armed Forces May Face Ammunition Shortage – Lithuanian Foreign Ministry

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said Western countries should supply Ukraine with modern weapons. In particular, the Ukrainian armed forces need tanks, long-range missiles and aircraft.

Ukraine may face an ammunition shortage due to the fact that samples of Soviet weapons are running out around the world. Therefore, Western countries must provide the Ukrainian troops with modern weapon systems. Speaking of which declared Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, reports Baltijas Balss.

The politician noted that Soviet weapons used by the Ukrainian armed forces are running out not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. In addition, the systems and associated ammunition are no longer produced or are produced in very small quantities.

“It is clear that Ukraine may also face a basic shortage of ammunition,” he said.

Landsbergis said that Western countries should supply Ukraine with new types of weapons. For example, German Leopard tanks or American Abrams. The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry added that, according to military experts, such weapons could change the situation, which would allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to move the front and move forward.

He noted that the front in eastern Ukraine is now frozen. According to him, the situation is difficult: many deaths and little progress.

“Why do we need tanks? Tanks produced in Western countries use standardized ammunition. If one country supplies tanks, any other country can supply ammunition,” said Gabrielius Landsbergis.

He also added that Ukraine needs long-range missiles and aviation.

Recall that on December 13, in the Eastern grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they said this Russian troops are running out of ammunition Caliber 122 and 152 mm. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to achieve parity with the occupiers on the issue of artillery.

Also, the media wrote that at the beginning of 2023 Russia may run out of usable ammo. The US believes using old stock is risky because it may not explode on impact.
