Ukrainian Actor Sergei Kustov Dies at 78: A Tribute to a Theatrical Legend

Ukrainian actor Sergei Kustov died at the age of 78. About this on December 2 reported on the Facebook page of the Lviv First Theater for Children and Youth.

“Our People’s Artist of Ukraine Sergei Pavlovich Kustov, an era in the history of theatrical Lviv and the whole country, our senior colleague, friend and mentor, has passed into oblivion,” they wrote in the obituary.

Kustov dedicated 55 years of his life to the First Theater, performing more than 100 roles. Among them are Hamlet, Golokhvastov in the play “Chasing Two Hares”, Robin Hood and Lukash in “The Forest Song”.

“He collaborated with such outstanding directors as Sergei Danchenko, Ada Kunitsa, Vladimir Opanasenko, Vladimir Sklyarenko, Miron Lukavetsky, Sergei Proskurnya, Alla Babenko, Alexey Kravchuk, and others. We sincerely condole with the family, friends and loved ones of Sergei Pavlovich. Eternal memory,” – they wrote in the post.

5th of December reportedthat the actor will be buried in Nikopol, Dnepropetrovsk region, where the actor died. He lived there in recent years.

The post also said that Kustov still had an unfulfilled dream – the role of the Old Man from the work “The Old Man and the Sea” by the American writer Ernest Hemingway.

“So he sailed in his boat far beyond the horizon… Farewell, Sergei Pavlovich, great actor!” – they wrote in the obituary.

Context:

From 1968 until the end of his life, Kustov served in the Lviv Youth Theater (now the First Ukrainian Theater for Children and Youth).

He has acted in films since 1966. He became widely known for his role as one of the musketeers of de Treville’s company in the film “D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers.” Kustov also starred in the films “Weeds”, “City from Morning to Midnight”, “Let Him Speak…”, “Crime with Many Unknowns”.
