Ukraine’s Growing Role in Weapons Production and Defense Innovation

“When they start using the phrase “transition of the economy to a war footing,” you should realize that this is not an entirely correct thing. If we lived in the USSR, where there was an administrative command for the transition of everyone and everything, where all enterprises were state-owned, where there was a completely different system of government. It was a closed system, so it was physically impossible to go on a military footing.“, Danilov emphasized.

He noted that Ukraine has already developed programs to provide the military with ammunition, armored vehicles and missiles. Our country is powerfully increasing its own capabilities every day, and state-owned enterprises are taking part in this.

“Over the last year and a half, a huge number of private companies have also begun to take part in this. They work at a very high level. A very simple example is naval drones that destroy the occupier. This is a product of a private company,” said the NSDC Secretary.

He clarified that such a company was created by a person who had nothing to do with the sea and vehicles.

According to Danilov, Ukraine’s Western partners are delighted when our country produces such unique things in such a short period of time.

The official recalled that Ukraine is also already opening joint defense ventures with foreign companies. This happens not only on the territory of our country, but also beyond its borders.

Weapons production in Ukraine

Let us recall that earlier the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Alexander Kamyshin said that Ukraine in 2023 has increased the production of ammunition significantly. But this is still not enough.

Kamyshin also assured that by the end of 2023, Ukraine will produce tens of thousands of drones per month.
