On Thursday, April 14, at a special press conference of St. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of Polish volleyball to the Olympic Committee Sebastian Świderski announced that Poland will be the main host of the 2022 World Cup. The last host country is perhaps the last unknown. Unofficially, we hear that the FIVB will invite Ukraine to the tournament in the coming days in place of Russia, which has been excluded from the World Cup. That’s just what the rules say. The first substitute of the team that does not take part in the championship should be the team with the highest ranking in the world ranking, which did not qualify for the tournament. Ukraine is the 23rd team in the FIVB ranking and there is not a single team ranked higher, which is no longer among the participants of the 2022 World Cup.
Unofficially, we learned that the Ukrainians at the championship will go to the group that will play their matches in Poland. This is what we have asked for and the FIVB is to grant this request.
