Toads, dung beetles, and praying mantises also fell under the protection of the state.

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine December 23 accepted a resolution that approved the size of fines for causing harm to the nature reserve fund. Not only animals, fish, trees and plants were protected by the state, but also mushrooms, berries, nuts and even toad-grouse.

It is reported that the amount of penalties will depend on the extent of the damage caused. The biggest fines will be paid by criminals who engage in poaching and illegal felling of trees.

So, for illegal hunting, poachers will have to pay:

  • UAH 30,400 (over $ 1100) – for a wild boar;
  • 8000 hryvnia (about $ 300) – for a beaver;
  • 7200 hryvnia (about $ 270) – for a fox;

Fines for illegal felling of trees will be imposed depending on where the tree grows, its age and trunk diameter.

For damage to a large tree older than 5 years, a person will be obliged to pay from 257 hryvnia to 18 300 hryvnia, and in some areas the amount can reach from 227 800 to 273 400 hryvnia (about $ 10,000).

The penalty for fishing without a permit will also depend on the catch:

  • 83 hryvnia for one crucian carp;
  • 12,500 hryvnia for a hybrid of sturgeon fish.

For damage to vegetation, fines are provided:

  • for each bush, the fine will be from 227 to 683 hryvnia;
  • for the destruction of vegetation, the age of which does not exceed 5 years, the fine will be from 182,300 to 227,8000 hryvnia (about $ 10,000);

For damage to a meadow lawn, the fine will be 198 hryvnia per sq. meter, ordinary lawn – 259 hryvnia per sq. meter, parterre lawn – 320 hryvnia per sq. meter.

Household people will also have to think about it, since for unauthorized harvesting of hay there is a fine ranging from UAH 11,400 to UAH 50,100 per hectare. And for unauthorized cattle grazing, you will have to pay from 251 to 754 hryvnia per head, depending on the type of animal.

A fine of up to 7.6 thousand hryvnias per hectare has been established for firing dry wetland vegetation.

In addition, for one mushroom cut without a license, a fine of 75 hryvnia is established.

You will also need to pay for illegal collection or harvesting of wild flowers.

  • 30 hryvnia for one flower;
  • 378 hryvnia for 1 kilogram of berries;
  • 1154 hryvnia for collecting other fruits, including nuts.

The Cabinet of Ministers estimated the life of one toad-mongrel at 130 hryvnia, and the lake toad at 14 hryvnia. For a crushed dung beetle, you need to pay 22 hryvnia, a praying mantis – 58 hryvnia.

In general, according to acting. Ruslan Streltsa, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, developed a new approach to determining and calculating the damage caused to the natural reserve fund of Ukraine.

“According to the formula for calculating the amount of damage increases 10 times and will be indexed annually. Such measures will help protect these territories and preserve their biodiversity,” the official commented on the new decree.

Recall that last year Verkhovna Rada has toughened punishment for air pollution, deforestation and burning of vegetation. Punishments include both penalties and criminal liability.
