Ukraine is considering organizing the Eurovision Song Contest next year in three different regions of the country. Broadcaster UA:PBC, which will organize the event, announced this on Wednesday.

Ukraine won the song festival this year. Therefore, in principle, the next edition should now take place in the war-ravaged country. The country has officially started preparations for the next Eurovision Song Contest this week. An organizing committee has been formed and approved.

“Yesterday we answered a questionnaire for hosting Eurovision in Ukraine at the European Broadcasting Union,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Ukraine’s culture minister. “Within a very short space of time, the government was able to provide thorough and comprehensive answers.”

Challenge
Tkachenko promises that the country will fulfill its obligations to the organization. “We have provided detailed answers to security questions and other organizational nuances and proposed different locations,” said the minister. “We understand that given the current circumstances, we face the challenge of hosting Eurovision in Ukraine. But we have risen to this challenge and I am sure we will surprise everyone.”

Despite the war with Russia, the Ukrainians have been serious about organizing a song festival in their own country since the victory of the group Kalush Orchestra in Turin last month. Several countries have recently offered to help Ukraine with the organization or to take over the event completely.
